The Guardian Project

Dec 01, 2025

Guardians of the Future: Rotary’s Role in Ancestry, Legacy, and Stewardship

This presentation introduces The Guardian Project, a global initiative that calls on schools, organizations, and individuals (including seniors and grandparents) to embrace their roles as “living ancestors.” Just as our forebears safeguarded opportunities for us, we now carry the responsibility of protecting and guiding future generations. The Guardian Project weaves together ancestry, stewardship, and civic responsibility to inspire collective action. Rotary, through its service, networks, and values, has a powerful opportunity to model what it means to be guardians of society, the environment, health, and the economy, ensuring a brighter future for our children and grandchildren.

The Pālehua Conservation Initiative (PCI) is a non-profit organization focused on restoring native Hawaiian forests and promoting ʻāina (land)-based education in the southern Waiʻanae Mountains of Oʻahu. Learn about Hawaii Foodbank and the great need for food support today.

The Hawaiʻi Foodbank is the state's largest hunger relief organization, working to provide nutritious food to those in need across Oʻahu and Kauaʻi, nourishing the community today while fighting hunger for tomorrow through a vast network of partners, farmers, and volunteers to distribute fresh produce, staple foods, and support programs for children and seniors. They collect food from various sources, including local farms (supporting local agriculture), and distribute it through pantries, schools, and specific programs like Food 4 Keiki and Kūpuna Fresh.
