"It's A Boy" - Understanding a boy's development and the impact on girls.
Oct 18, 2021
For nearly thirty-five years, Dr. Michael Thompson worked as a clinical psychologist, school consultant and international speaker on the subjects of children, schools and parenting. He has authored nine books focusing on the emotional lives of boys, friendships and social cruelty in childhood, the impact of summer camp experiences on child development, the tensions that arise in the parent-teacher relationships, and psychological aspects of school leadership. His work with independent schools and public school districts throughout the United States, and with international schools in Europe, Asia and South America takes him to about fifty schools a year to lead workshops for teachers, administrators, parents and students. |

Oct 23, 2021 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM
All! Please join our friends at Rotary Club of Hickam Pearl Harbor for a repeat of our April Bike Path Cleanup. 1. Please RSVP so we can give Allen Kamemoto a head count 2. Sign attached waiver and email back to Allen at :akamemoto@hotmail.com 3. Info to Volunteers from Allen: Directions to Bike Path site near Ted Makalena Golf course: From town, take the Waipahu cut-off, take the first left turn after Waipahu High School, heading down Waipio Point Access Road, toward the Makalena Golf Course and the Waipio Soccer complex. Waipahu High School will be on the left, Waipahu Aloha Clubhouse next, then you’ll cross a small historic bridge over the old cane haul road and our area of the bike path will be where the Makalena Golf course starts on the right side. You’ll see the bike path crossing with a crosswalk, so park on the right side of Waipio Point Access Road. We will have water at the site, but please bring a hat, sunscreen, and your favorite garden gloves and rubbish pickers, but I will try to bring if you don’t have them. The work day is 8:00 to 11:00. Also remember to wear covered shoes, mask and practice social distancing.
This is a great project to make Hawaii a nicer place to be, but we will also get to know our fellow volunteers and have fun!

The Dream Tree
Oct 25, 2021
Honolulu Sunrise Rotary Club supports education, reading, and books. For this speaker you may want to invite your grandchildren! Bridged Atkins is extremely grateful and excited to share her latest work, The Dream Tree, a children's storybook with beautiful illustrations by Maria Ballarin and published by Mascot Books. This nostalgic story is inspired by her father's mission to give his children a better childhood than his own by dreaming big and never giving up.
