Creating a healthier Hawaii through the Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children

Martha Smith Martha joined Hawai‘i Pacific Health (HPH) in October 2004 and serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women and Children. Martha has worked in hospital operations and health care in Hawai‘i and Florida for 25 years. Mrs. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy from University of Central Florida, a Master of Public Health from University of AlabamaBirmingham and a Master of Business Administration from Chaminade University, Honolulu. She is a Fellow in the American College of Health care Executives (FACHE). She was recognized in 2016 as Hawai‘i’s Business Leader of the year, recognized in 2015 as a Girl Scouts Women of Distinction and in 2014 as The Healthcare Leader of the year by the Healthcare Association of Hawai‘i. Mrs. Smith serves on the Alohacare, Child Family Services, Girl Scouts of Hawai‘i and Surgicare (ASC Pacific Ventures) boards. She is also on the Board of Regents of Chaminade University and the Chair of the Board of Kapi‘olani Medical Specialists, a Physician Specialty Group of Hawai‘i Pacific Health.

Every third Friday of the month we donate a meal to Youth House a runaway shelter for teens 12-18 in the Waikiki area. We either purchase meals like lasagne that they can reheat or deliver a hot meal like Chili or Pizza. One or two volunteers are needed each month Feeds anywhere from 30 to 40 teens. Contact is Alika (808) 754-7060 to arrange delivery time. |

Rotarians, We are in the process of planning our camping trip for our Japanese visotrs from the Rotary Club of Atago and the Miyagi School for the blind along with our Hoopono friends. We will be camping from Friday afternoon, from 3pm, to Sunday the 5th after breakfast. Please let us know if you would be able to help with this worthwhile project, when you will be coming and when you will be leaving. We need a good headcount for the meals and even if you come for a day to enjoy the sun, surf, and comradeship, that will be great. You do not have to stay overnight to enjoy this wonderful experience. We do need to get everyone on a list that are attending or even thinking of only visiting, so please send Allen Kamemoto at akamenoto@hotmail.com your name, date of birth, and tentative schedule and he will notify the MPs at the gate to allow you in. He needs the list my Monday July 23rd, as the names need to be scrubbed byy secruity. We need first, middle intial, last name and date of birth, driever license or State ID and citizenship. For kids under 16 this information is not needed. If you participated last year we have your information, but will need your expected schedule. Look forward to seeing you all there. |

Join us for the Wildest Show in Town Concert at the Honolulu Zoo on Wednesday, August 15 featuring Jon Yamasato and Iron Mango. Gates Open at 4:30 p.m. and the music starts at 6:00 p.m. The cost is only $13 and includes a delicious dinner of Teriyaki Chicken, Green Salad & Dressings, Macaroni Salad, Steamed White Rice, Plantation Tea & Water. Family & Friends are welcome! We also encourage you to bring a potential new member. The Club will cover their cost for the event.
